A Benefit for Best Friends Animal Society

Stephen Sondheim’s

Putting It Together

a musical revue by Stephen Sondheim

presented by Academy Award-winning producer Jonathan Sanger (The Elephant Man, The Producers, Cabrini)

directed by Harry White

Producer Jonathan Sanger (The Producers, The Elephant Man, Vanilla Sky, Cabrini) teamed up with the Foster Cats to remount our hit Sondheim musical as a charity event for the benefit of Best Friends Animal Society, who provides support to countless animal shelters across Los Angeles. In just two nights we raised $400!

This two-act musical revue consists of songs from various musicals by Stephen Sondheim, repurposed to form an entirely new story. Throughout the evening, two couples reflect on the complexities of modern relationships while a mysterious narrator observes. Featuring some of Sondheim’s most popular songs from shows like Sweeney Todd and Company, as well as some lesser known gems from Dick Tracy, including his sole Oscar-winning song “Sooner or Later.”

Putting It Together was originally performed as our inaugural production in 2022, and remounted in October 2024 for a limited run, which was noticed by several producers including Jonathan Sanger, who helped revive it for our December benefit for Best Friends Animal Society LA.

“It’s clear that Foster Cat Productions is cementing itself as a company to watch on the LA theatre scene.”
